This award recognizes a building service contractor with a cleaning program that helps reduce the levels of allergens and asthma triggers in the indoor environment. A Cleaning for Health program consists of policies, procedures and training that emphasizes the impact on the health of building occupants and staff. It also includes equipment that reduces building contaminants and minimizes environmental impact. The award is presented by ProTeam and its winner was determined by a separate judging panel. This year’s winner is Harvard Maintenance Inc., Miami. “Cleaning for Health has been a hallmark of ProTeam since the beginning,” says ProTeam National Sales Manager Jeff Stone. “Now, as we celebrate our 30th anniversary year, we are proud to honor a company that so embodies that ethos.” Harvard’s cleaning for wellness program, HarvardClean, is based around traditional cleaning for appearance, but also measurable efficacy such as health and safety, sustainability, productivity, and asset preservation as deliverables. Janitors focus on places where germs live and thrive, including high-touch points, places where people congregate often, and areas with multiple uses. Harvard strives to put people first, and that includes creating healthy and productive workspaces for their clients. “Our cleaning for health and sustainability initiatives are more than individual programs or certifications, they are core competencies of our organization that are driven into our culture,” says Stanley Doobin, owner and president of Harvard. Arthur C. Barraclough Community Service Award Named for the former president-elect who sadly passed away before taking office, this award recognizes volunteer efforts and generous acts for charities and the community. This year’s winner is Marsden Holding LLC, St. Paul, Minnesota. “For over 65 years, Marsden has been deeply embedded in the communities we serve,” said Pete Cain, vice president, Tier One/Marsden Holding, upon accepting the award. “Under the leadership of our founder, Skip Marsden, our firm embraced a legacy of generosity, stewardship and commitment to the charitable causes that make our hometowns better places to live and work.” Skip’s legacy lives on today. The current leadership team pledges to donate 10 percent of pre-tax profits to 501(c)(3) organizations. In addition, every member of Marsden’s senior leadership team is involved with a charitable organization — donating his or her time, energy and financial assistance. For example, in the aftermath of the night club shooting in Orlando, Florida, Marsden South President Tim Rupard gathered several employees to hand out bottled water to first responders and victim families. Sita Morantz, Marsden’s chief administrative officer, is a board member for Easter Seals. Marsden CEO Guy Mingo spearheaded the Make-A-Wish annual gala to raise more than $700,000. In addition, he and his wife personally sponsor a child to help create safe and stable homes for children in need in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. “Charitable giving needs to start in your own community,” says Mingo. “We can only make a sustainable difference if we see firsthand how our actions are changing lives.” Additional Awards Industry Service Award National Service Alliance Skip Marsden Education Excellence Award Janitronics Facilities Services Image Awards Small Company: Bryco Services Inc.
