VANCOUVER, WA — The former Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC), now "The Clean Trust," has been enduring growing pains since the rebranding announcement on Friday, October 14. Visit the Cleanfax magazine bulletin board or The Clean Trust Facebook page to add your comments and thoughts. "The Clean Trust lets people know exactly what we do, in a business-like, technical, professional way. We train. We set the standards. We certify. We vouch for a technician''s ability and professionalism and thereby ease our customer''s worries and concerns," said Paul Pearce, chairman of The Clean Trust at the time of the announcement. In the board of director’s meeting following the announcement of the new name of the IICRC, Darrell Paulson was chosen to replace Pearce as chairman, among other board of director''s changes. See related article on Cleanfax.com. Comments on the Cleanfax magazine bulletin board and the new The Clean Trust Facebook page indicate that most cleaners and restorers are not happy with the change. The first posting online in reaction about the news was on the Cleanfax magazine bulletin board. "Well, I guess it''s better than their previous long name. Still not sure the new name explains what they do. It makes them sound they are a bank for cleaners," said Sean Mecham. Carl Hoglund had a different concern: "Did they ever consider how much it will cost and time involved for a company to change all logos on equipment, vans, trucks, yellow pages, work uniforms, company signs, ads, business cards, paperwork, invoices, etc?" Some saw the change as a positive move by the former IICRC. "I think the name change is a good idea," said Jud Savelle. "It looks like we all agree that consumers never even related to the name IICRC anyway, so this change was inevitable." Views and opinions by the industry at this time are volatile.
