New York Rug Cleaners Institute (NYRCI)
Submitted by Lorne Greenberg

The New York Rug Cleaners Institute (NYRCI) is having a great beginning to 2011, following the upward trend from last year.

Many see the value of all the benefits of becoming a member offer, such as discounts on IICRC classes and having a full webpage on www.nyrci.org.

We just had a very successful RRT class, led by Mark Violand, at Total Supply in Medford. We also had a great turnout for our Business Development Workshop, instructed by Ed Abel.

Our next dinner meeting is March 8 at the Holiday Inn of Plainview and it will be covering the topic of your business website.

Continuing the year is a review of Oriental rugs on May 10 at Ricardos of Astoria; following is the area rug cleaning class at the same location. On September 13 in Plainview, a general meeting focused on promoting pride and professionalism. The final meeting is on October 11, back in Astoria, and we will be discussing pricing for profit.

The dinner meetings begin at 6 p.m. For more information, please call Brian Kornet at (516)679-9473 or e-mail him at bkornet@fabracleen.com. You can also get visit our website for more information at www.nyrci.org.

Carpet Cleaners Institute of the Northwest (CCINW)
Submitted by Dan Joner

2011 is underway, so now is a good time for us to review where we, the Carpet Cleaners Institute of the Northwest (CCINW) have been and look forward to what we can accomplish together in the coming year.

When I look back over the years of being a member of the CCINW, I soon realize that while I appreciated the benefits of membership through chapter meetings and association conventions, I have gained the most as I have been involved in the board of directors.

As you look forward to the coming year, ask yourself what you can do to contribute to our association and the cleaning and restoration industry.

Your board of directors has devoted much time recently to the discussion of the IICRC proposed International Trade Association.

The consideration of such an organization is complex and requires careful thought and on-going interaction with the IICRC and the other regional associations.

An area of continuing concern from our association is planning and scheduling our local chapter meetings.

Service requires time. By becoming involved you will be investing that time in helping others and strengthening your business and yourself. Join, grow, give. What will you do to help?

Please visit our website regularly: www.ccinw.org.
