Cleanfax welcomes Ed Cross as contributing writer

CleanMaster is now U.S. Products

MUKILTEO, WA — U.S. Products has announced that CleanMaster equipment will now be marketed under the U.S. Products brand name.

CleanMaster manufacturers specialized equipment designed to clean escalators, five different portable carpet extractors and a self-contained truckmount carpet cleaning system, among other products.

“This merger is really designed to benefit our end-customers,” said Nick Wiebe, marketing manager for U.S. Products and CleanMaster.

“Both brands serve similar markets. Now, instead of competing against each other, we can put more time and effort into designing equipment that better meets our customers'' needs,” Wiebe added.

IICRC forms S540 consensus body standard committee

VANCOUVER, WA — The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) has announced the formation of a consensus body for development of the IICRC S540 Standard and Reference Guide for Trauma and Crime Scene Clean Up.

“This committee will be made up of people directly and materially affected by the standard,” said Jim Holland, IICRC Standards Committee chairman.

The 15-member standard consensus body will meet approximately four times per year, with most of the work being completed online and via conference calls.

The new standard for trauma and crime scene cleanup is set to be completed in approximately 36 months.

Two join RSA faculty for textile training

BURLINGTON, WA — The Restoration Sciences Academy (RSA) has announced the addition of Jim Pemberton and Lisa Wagner to its faculty to develop the new RSA Textile Specialists training program.

“Jim and Lisa published a powerful article last year (September 2010, Cleanfax magazine) about the state of training in the industry,” said RSA Manager Brandon Burton. “Their discussion about the current lack of textile specialist training available in the industry and their proposed fixes to the problem convinced us that they were the perfect choice to design a superior level of training for RSA.”

Both Pemberton and Wagner are second-generation owner/managers in the industry and long-time instructors in their respective fields.

Pemberton is president of Pembertons Cleaning and Restoration Supplies in McKeesport, PA, while Wagner is an owner of K. Blatchford''s Oriental Rug Cleaning, Repair & Restoration in San Diego, CA.

CRDN names director of IT

BERKLEY, MI — Michael Ewles has been named director of information technology (IT) for the Certified Restoration Drycleaning Network(CRDN).

Previously, Ewles was managing director of IT at Cleantech Group, the world''s leading market research firm focused on Cleantech innovation, where he directed all IT resource planning, budgeting and strategic initiatives.

“Michael''s experience, spanning 17 years, provides a valuable depth of knowledge for our IT Department, which will enable us to take our systems to the next level,” said Chip Bifano, CRDN''s president.

“Internally within our organization, Michael will be responsible for guiding our IT team through several key strategic initiatives. As a result, CRDN will be able to provide enhanced service levels to our clients through a more comprehensive approach to data management and reporting,” Bifano added.
